Exciting news. The Vintage Motor Cycle Club Sprint Section and Straightliners have got together to create a new ‘open to the public’ sprint event for the 2010 sprint season.
Taking place on the 4th of July 2010 at East Kirkby Airfield (near Spilsby in Lincolnshire) our aim is to bring this famous WW2 Aerodrome back to life with the sound of historic, classic and ‘modern classic’ (pre-1985) machines as they thunder down the runway side by side.
Ever wondered what ‘she’s really capable of achieving ? The safest place to find out is here!

The event should appeal to anyone interested in old(er) motorcycles and seeing them do what they do best - running.
“Our aim is to bring this famous WW2 Aerodrome back to life with the sound of historic (pre-1985) machines as they thunder down the runway side by side”
We’ll have more news soon, but the competition will be open to all pre 1985 motorcycles and entry fees are a very reasonable £45:00 (plus a £5:00 fee for your day licence if you don't already have one).
Our hope is to make this a ‘special’ annual fixture, and something that riders, past, present and future may wish to engage in. There are full facilities on site and entrance fees for the public are a very reasonable £10 for the day (with NO charges for bringing along the kids).
“‘Famous Avro Lancaster Bomber ‘Just Jane’ is expected to perform a taxi run”
Even if you don’t want to formally ‘compete’, there will be a number of parade laps which will run throughout the day (Entry Price £25:00) and we’re even encouraging those who’s riding days are long behind them to get their ‘old girls out from under the bench’ if only for the chance to start them up without annoying the neighbours!
For extra interest East Kirkby Airfield is also well known as an award winning aircraft musuem which itself is well worth a visit during the day. It’s home to the famous Avro Lancaster Bomber “Just Jane” which frequently performs four engined taxi runs (the only place in the world where you can see this performed on an original airfield).
NOTE : ‘Just Jane' is expected to perform a taxi run at 2.00pm. We also expect a flying display from a Spitfire and a flypast from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) Avro Lancaster PA474 (more details here).
